 Webmaster Account
Our Webmaster Account allows you to access our servers by Telnet
as well as FTP. It provides greatly increased disk space and daily traffic,
allows the use of our System CGI library, and also allows you to
develop your own custom CGI scripts. A single POP-accessible mailbox
is provided for the account, and you may use catch-all or advanced forwarding options for this account's mail.
Isn't 400Mb/day way too much?
400Mb/day traffic is a lot more than most providers allow. They
only want small, simple sites, and will charge hefty overusage fees for
anything larger. They cover this scheme up by pretending that no site
could possibly need more than, say, 1000Mb/month. But that's only about
33Mb/day - which is barely enough to accommodate an average of one visitor
with a 2400 baud modem for 24 hrs/day! (There are even some providers
that offer less traffic per month than we offer per day,
and they charge a lot more, too.)
Don't believe this nonsense about how few sites need more than
1000Mb/month, either. Amongst our large and varied customer base, more
than 11% of our hosted sites average more than 1000Mb/month - and yes,
our network is powerful enough to support
them quite easily! (We do not host adult sites, however.)
As a Webmaster customer, you may use our System CGI library,
or develop your own CGI scripts for use with your site,
provided that our policies are not violated (in short, no "chat"
systems, no CGI for remote sites, and resource limits are enforced).
